I am not into Christian fiction, which to me seems a contradiction in terms. But if you like your easy-reading fiction populated with familiar people, practices, and personalities, than this book helps fill the niche for Lutherans, and may introduce these unassuming people to the general reader. Conservative Lutheran piety, reflected in this book, tends to acknowledge limits- we cannot change the world, we can only try to do what is right in the situation. Dramatic conversions are rare; rather, problems of long-standing take time to heal, though turning points can sometimes be recognized. And it is God's message (centered in Christ's Cross & Resurrection) that changes hearts and minds, not all of a sudden, but slowly, imperceptibly. That this can pose a challenge to the writer of fiction, I leave to the reader"s imagination (as my wife says, it is hard to get excited about a world of cassaroles). Kornacki meets this challenge with a readable story, about believable people, and ordinary situations that arise in a small town. If this sounds rather ordinary, it may be due to the lack of self-destructive passions that sweep us into the seductive but chaotic world. That's what other people do.Product details

Love Divine is a well-written novel about love and marriage. It includes a lot of scripture verses showing the reasons for waiting for sex until after marriage. It also shows how love grows, even when we don't recognize it ourselves; and how God works in our lives. I hope more novels are written with this theme.
Being an LCMS pastor it really hit home. Situations were similar to my own personal experiences. Good read for me.
As Christian romance novels go, I think this is one of the better ones. Rev. Karnacki shows that Christians can fall prey to the same temptations as others, and also shows God's way of dealing with them.
This novel gives the reader an idea of what it's really like to be a Lutheran pastor. The events depicted really do happen, although maybe not as frequently as for the sake of the story in the novel, nor all of them to any one person, but they do occur in real life.
As a church secretary and lifelong Lutheran, I truly appreciate this first book. And am looking forward to reading the next two. I had a hard time putting it down.
